Thermamax works with leading dealers and service providers of CAT engines

Optimised fire protection for offshore production platforms made easy:

With the development of high-performance and above all retrofit engine covers for offshore platforms, the Mannheim-based Thermamax Hochtemperaturdämmungen GmbH has created a sensation on the market in the last two years. To introduce this solution as effectively as possible on a platforms around the world, the technology leader concluded a cooperation agreement with a service provider operating on the high seas.

What applies in general on the high seas is even more critical on offshore production platforms: effective fire protection concepts! The SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) standard has applied on ships for decades: no part on a ship may exceed a surface temperature of 220ºC. This is a requirement in which Thermamax has been the unrivalled technology leader for a long time. Jaouad Bahaoui, Head of the Marine and Large Engines Business Unit:
“Our retrofit solutions for offshore platforms are the ideal solution for platform operators. Our close cooperation ensures that these solutions are in place very quickly anywhere in the world. That’s the least we can do for our customers.“

The cooperation partner is one of the leading dealers and service providers for both Caterpillar (CAT) and MAK engines and generators, and employs a workforce of around 11,000 people in 12 countries. The company looks after a total of approx. 1,500 CAT engines covering all engine series for a wide variety of customers – including diverse customers from the offshore industry.

Exhaust shields and spray guards are already available for different types of engines.

Jaouad Bahaoui: “As a result of this cooperation, operators can retrofit these solutions directly. Other solutions can be added to meet the needs of the market. We are ready!“
