The Health and Safety at Work System - in Germany known as the "AMS" - indicates a strongly embedded system of worker protection within the organization.  In the same way as with Quality Management systems it confirms the company's commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment. This commitment forms a daily part of the company's decision-making and planning, and has to be systematically organized, validated regularly, and naturally  subject to continuous improvement. "AMS" is the industry-based implementation of the "National Guidelines for Health and Safety at Work Systems" and as a management system, comparable with OHSAS 18001. The effectiveness of the Health and Safety at Work System can be certified by award of  an AMS certificate from the relevant Accident Insurer following an independent inspection.

Thermamax instigated just such an external inspection of it's Health and Safety at Work System in April 2013 resulting in the successful evaluation by their official Accident Insurer, the company VBG. VBG is a legally-based Accident Insurer holding approx. 34 million policies with more than 970,000 organisations from over 100 industry sectors.  "We are delighted to have been awarded the AMS-Certificate by VBG.  We are a company with a systematic approach and we look upon this independent certification of our Health and Safety at Work System as a further step towards even greater safety and overall efficiency. "  Peter Cappellucci, Specialist for Health and Safety  at Thermamax commented further:  "Health and Safety is a crucial element in our integrated approach to environmental, safety at work, and fire protection management issues. Properly directed, it helps in optimizing production processes and increasing job satisfaction - and can mean real added value. An external, independent audit of our Health and Safety System shows us we're on the right track. The award of the AMS certificate gives confidence to both our workforce and our customers. In addition our basic aspiration is to be better than the norm - this approval is a good benchmark for that."
