As a trustworthy supplier to the automobile industry, we have been in compliance with the IATF 16949:2016 automobiles standards since April 2018. The preparations to introduce the new standards in the different departments and in quality management started in June 2017 and the audit took place at the end of January this year.

An internationally unified set of regulations eases global business relations enormously. The industry took a major step towards this goal with the introduction of IATF 16949:2016, thus extending the existing DIN EN ISO 9001 standard to meet the demands of the US QS 9000 standards and the German VDA (German automobile industry). The result is a much more rigorously applied and supervised set of regulations.

It allows Thermamax improved access to the automotive market, as the performance of our products is fully accredited internationally. We now enjoy greater legal certainty and optimized product and process quality, as our management and product manufacture processes are screened for risks in line with the demands of the standard, and this leads to less downtime and lower costs.

Car manufacturers, OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and direct suppliers (Tier 1) are all required to have IATF 16949:2016 certification. The change must be carried out by September 14th, 2018 as all ISO TS 16949 will then become invalid.

IATF stands for the International Automotive Task Force, which is composed of representatives from certain car manufacturers and associations working towards the standardization of regulations and the improvement of product quality. IATF members include: BMW Group, Daimler AG, Fiat-Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, PSA Peugeot-Citroen-Opel, Renault Group, Volkswagen as well as car manufacturing associations from USA, Italy, France, Great Britain and Germany.
