Production Engineer

Thermamax is a specialist and technology leader in the design and manufacture of thermal and acoustic insulation solutions for engine rooms and exhaust after-treatment systems for diesel engines, spark ignition engines, and electric propulsion systems. Thermamax serves markets such as marine, agriculture, power generation, off- and on-highway. Thermamax, Inc. manufactures high temperature insulation at the facility in Aurora, Illinois.

Role / Responsibilities:

  • Nesting of programmed parts for maximum efficiency, Trumpf and Mazak laser equipment.
  • Programming of Laser machines on new parts and troubleshooting existing parts as needed.
  • Production planning and control
  • Develop process improvements to effectively utilize equipment/materials to maximize production.
  • Perform time studies to verify schedules are correct.
  • Create work plans and parts lists; maintain material master data
  • Work on planning and shop layout of new processes and equipment.
  • Work with Quality Dpt. to review and recommend improvements in inspection processes and techniques.
  • Perform engineering analysis to reduce downtime and outage.
  • Support production cost calculation
  • Prepare analytics to the President and Management team as needed to plan current and future growth and staffing.


  • Bachelor’s in industrial/Production Engineering, or similar
  • 5+ years’ experience
  • Solid skills in programing CNC machines (preferably 2D/3D lasers and press breaks)
  • Project management skills and experience
  • Lean Management skills are a plus
  • High level of result orientation and commitment
  • Self-reliant and well structured
  • Very good communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • ERP experience
